INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY

Invictus Radiologists is one of the country’s leading facilities for the application of interventional radiology for the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of complicated conditions.

What is Interventional Radiology?: Interventional radiology is a medical sub-specialty of radiology. It utilizes images generated by various imaging methods including CT Scans, Ultrasounds, and X-Ray Fluoroscopy for diagnostic purposes and for surgical navigation through the body. Image-guided infiltration of local anaesthetic has the advantage of increased safety and accuracy compared with blind injection methods. When the site of pain can be accurately located, safer doses of local anaesthetic can be achieved. Diagnostic technology is used to guide needles with precision to diagnose and treat diseases while minimizing risk to the patient and improving health outcomes. This provides a minimally invasive means of treating conditions without the risks, possible complications and longer recovery times of open surgery.

Fluoroscopic X-Ray techniques provide physicians and radiologists with clear, real-time moving visualizations of the nerve root and surrounding structures. During examination, a continuous X-Ray beam is passed through the body of the patient. A contrast dye may be used to temporarily highlight the structures within an organ. Another popular fluoroscopic procedure is a Hysterosalpingogram, which is used to diagnose fertility problems in the uterus. The advanced imaging ability provides a safer treatment by minimizing treatment time and radiation exposure to patients.
